Talmi and AventurinGREAT BAY – The National Institute for Professional Advancement (NIPA) signed a memorandum of understanding on Monday with the St. Maarten Hospitality and Trade Association (SHTA) that opens the door for NIPA-students to internships at SHTA-member companies.

Antonio Aventurin, chairman of the NIPA-board and SHTA chairlady Lorraine Talmi signed the agreement in the presence of NIPA’s interim executive director Patricia Lourens-Philip, interim director Tasheena Maccow-Thomas, job coach coordinator Andrea Gibson-Paul, Renatta de Weever representing the hospitality sector and SHTA executive director Wyb Meijer.

The SHTA will recommend placement services for NIPA’s hospitality students who want to do their internships at properties and offices of SHTA-members.

NIPA and the SHTA share a common interest in providing a rigorous curriculum and in-depth training to equip students with a broad-based view of the hospitality industry.
